Laser Hair Removal: Nd-YAG Laser

Laser hair removal uses the energy of laser beams to target particular cells of the hair follicle called stem cells. Most hair removal such as waxing, threading or electrolysis do not act on the stem cell of the hair follicles. Laser hair removal, however is able to destroy the stem cell and hopefully stop regrowth of the hair.

Most of lasers do not remove hair permanently, but partial hair reduction is achieved in most cases. Several session can reduce hair regrowth by up to 90% if performed by an experienced clinician using the latest laser technology equipment as in T&M Wellbeing clinic.

Laser hair removal can be used on virtually any hair type except for blonde and white hair due to the lack of pigments called Melanin.

Hair growth has different stages (please see below). At some of these stages hair follicles are more resistant to treatment and that is why you may need multiple laser sessions.

The Hair Cycle

At T&M Well-being clinic we use clinically proved laser hair removal called Nd-YAG laser which has a wavelength of 1064 nm and has the capability to reach deeper layers of skin tissue than other types of lasers.

We usually arrange a consultation followed by skin patch hair removal test to identify your hair laser settings. Shaving and cleaning the targeted area is essential thus we would like you to shave the area to be treated the day or night before your appointment. Doing this will prevent thermal injury to the surface of the skin as there won't be hair on the surface to absorb the laser's energy. It will allow the laser to go directly to the hair follicle and maximise the benefits.

The procedure can take from couple of minutes to hours depending on your requirements.

Laser hair removal not intended to be a painful treatment in fact if there is pain or discomfort please inform us immediately as the sitting might need to adjusted, our machine has integrated cooling system which make hair removal more comfortable as well protect the upper layer of your skin.
